Here a drab office complex, off-limits to the public, has become a popular new part of Aldgate with a mix of buzzing public squares, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and tranquil green spaces.
The development will provide just short of 2,000 mixed tenure homes and plays host to summer barbeques, Christmas markets and free sports screening in the main piazza. A new network of walking routes and public squares has helped to stitch the wider neighbourhood together, linking streets which had been cut-off for generations.
The Goodman's Fields Residents' Committee works alongside the estate management teams and local businesses to help neighbours mix, meet and reach out to the wider community. The centrepiece of this site is a series of dramatic horse sculptures and water features which celebrate the area's history as a stables.
