The Berkeley Foundation
The Berkeley Foundation is the grant-making foundation established by the Berkeley Group in 2011. It supports organisations, young people and communities to have a positive impact in the areas where Berkeley Group works. Its new 2030 strategy is an ambitious plan with a clear vision for the future.
“Our vision is that young people and their communities will have the tools and resources they need to thrive and be a force for change in the world.”
The Foundation’s work is focused around five impact goals:
- A safe place to call home
- Journey to employment
- Health and wellbeing
- Youth leadership
- A resilient voluntary sector
Over the last ten years, the Berkeley Foundation and its partners have worked with over 33,000 people across London, Birmingham and the South of England – supporting them to develop new skills, move into work, improve their physical and mental health, and move out of homelessness.
So far, the Foundation has committed over £23 million to more than 100 charities and worthy causes. These range from in-depth Strategic Partnerships with programmes like Street Elite and charities like Crisis and Lord’s Taverners, to the local Community Partners who are chosen by Berkeley Group staff in our offices and on our sites.
The majority of the Foundation's funding comes from Berkeley Group. Berkeley also pays all the Foundation's overheads, which means that every penny raised is spent on charitable activities. To date, Berkeley Group employees have raised an amazing £6 million through fundraising events and Give As You Earn. External donations and support comes from Berkeley's supply chain and consultants.
Each year, more than 60% of Berkeley Group staff get involved with the Foundation's work.
