Judges focussed on the quality and design of the homes built, with all aspects of the housebuilder's performance being assessed, from site presentation to the standard of after-sales service and overall customer care. Berkeley Group were also awarded 'Sustainable Developer of the Year' for its commitment to embedding sustainability within its organisation and by taking a holistic approach to sustainable development.

Berkeley Group Tops Sustainability Benchmark for Fourth Year

The Berkeley Group has been ranked as the top homebuilder in the 2010 NextGeneration benchmarking initiative. Introduced in 2006 the benchmark ranks the UK's 25 largest homebuilders according to their sustainability performance.

The same three companies that were leaders in last year's benchmark the Berkeley Group, Crest Nicholson and Miller Homes have continued their high performance in this year's benchmark achieving 85% (1st place), 78% (2nd place) and 69% (3rd place), respectively.

The Berkeley Group Wins Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year Accolade at Housebuilder Awards 2010

Now in its sixth year, The Housebuilder Awards, supported by the Home Builders Federation (HBF), aims to recognise the best of innovation and excellence in the housebuilding industry. In winning the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year award, The Berkeley Group demonstrated its sustainability credentials across the whole of its business from energy and water conservation to waste reduction and encouraging biodiversity.

The Berkeley Group, the UK's leading urban regenerator, has received five 2010 Building for Life standards.  The Building for Life scheme recognises commitment to high standards of building design and sustainable development nationwide.  Standards are awarded by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in partnership with the Home Building Federation (HBF).

Building Awards, Housebuilder of the Year - Winner
