It’s been an exciting time at Highcroft as we welcomed Cllr Daniel Beauchamp, Mayor of Wallingford and the local community to Highcroft to celebrate the official opening of our allotments. Despite the rain we had a great turn out with members of Wallingford Town Council, the local community and our team at St Edward keen to mark this special occasion. The allotments, which are now owned by the council, were made available to the wider community and we are delighted that a selection of Highcroft residents were able to obtain a plot to cultivate and grow their own produce.
Placemaking and sustainability have been carefully considered at Highcroft. As well as the 42 allotments (8 of which are wheelchair accessible) we also have 18 acres of open space, over 1,000 new trees will be planted across the site, 2.2 acres of new sports pitches are available as well as play areas and nature ponds. We also have a new on-site Primary school coming soon.
Thank you to all those who attended our ‘grand opening’ it was great to meet allotment enthusiasts from Wallingford Town Council and the local community, the plots are starting to look great!
