Olympic gold medalist Katherine Grainger CBE launched Fulham Reach Boat Club on Monday 20th October at Fulham Reach, the award winning riverside development by St George. The new boat club was officially opened with guests from Hammersmith and Fulham Council, students and teachers from local schools who will benefit from this new facility and representatives from St George whose Fulham Reach development has funded the boat club.
The Fulham Reach Boat Club is a new multi-use water sports centre specialising in rowing and paddle sports. The boat club has a new fleet of 18 boats, dedicated indoor training room and purpose built club room based in Distillery Wharf at Fulham Reach.
Nick Hutchings, Managing Director, St George Central London commented; "I am delighted that we have supported this fantastic new boat club at Fulham Reach. When complete our development will deliver 744 new homes and a mix of shops, restaurants and offices as well as approximately four acres of open space. Fulham Reach Boat Club is an important part of this new community and will be an asset for the residents of Hammersmith and Fulham."
Steve O'Connor, Chief Executive, Fulham Reach Boat Club commented; "Fulham Reach Boat Club will deliver rowing sessions to local schools and the local community. A major aim for the club is to give school students and the wider community the opportunity to row, and to allow and encourage the schools to grow their own rowing clubs. I hope that future Olympians will have started their rowing careers at Fulham Reach Boat Club."
