St James Homes Thames Valley has been awarded a prestigious 'Building For Life' award, recognising design and construction innovation; environmental impact and the creation of a sense of community, at The Manor in the Lower Earley area of Reading.
Led by the Home Builders Federation and CABE in association with Design for Homes, the Civic Trust, English Partnerships and The Housing Corporation, Building for Life aims to promote design excellence and celebrate best practice within the house building industry.
Building for Life is the national benchmark for housing development in England. The awards seek to recognise schemes that demonstrate excellence in housing and neighbourhood design.
Housing schemes are assessed against a number of criteria, including: character, roads, parking and pedestrianisation, design and construction, their environmental impact and creating a sense of community. Silver is awarded to exemplary schemes that fulfill 70 per cent of the criteria.
St James Homes has been awarded a Silver award for its development at The Manor, Lower Earley. The distinct character of the development was noted - where formal architecture, well mannered urban design and rich landscaping come together to create the feel of homes set next to a park.
