Chinese New Year is a significant moment in the Lunar calendar, which this year falls on Saturday 10th February 2024.
The celebrations will usher in the ‘Year of the Dragon’, which symbolises good luck, strength, good health and power in Chinese culture.
Gifted with innate courage, tenacity, and intelligence, dragons are the most honoured animal of the 12 mythical creatures in the Chinese zodiac calendar. They are also considered enthusiastic and confident, which signifies a positive change is on the horizon.
At London Dock, in honour of the Chinese Lunar New Year, we will be celebrating with a variety of festive traditions and decorations.
Welcoming residents and visitors with good fortune, our London Dock Sales & Marketing Suite, concierge and the exclusive resident’s lounge and The Club will be adorned with fortune cookies and mandarins to spread good luck and happiness for the year ahead.
They are also welcome to join our celebrations and indulge in the food and traditions of Far Eastern cuisine at London Dock.
The slurping of noodles is considered to offer compliments to the chef in both Chinese and Japanese culture and is the inspiration behind London’s first Slurp Noodles restaurant, co-founded by restauranteur Saiphin Moore.
Symbolising abundance and prosperity in Chinese tradition, foods such as fried wonton, dumplings, seafood, and of course noodles to slurp, can all be discovered at this new London Dock restaurant on Gauging Square.
On behalf of our entire London Dock team, we wish all our residents, partners, community members and visitors a prosperous and fulfilling 2024.
Happy Chinese New Year and Year of the Dragon!
