Each year, construction sites across England, Scotland and Wales open their doors and give the public a chance to see what's going on. You can discover how the buildings in your city and community are constructed, and find out what kind of skills and professions are needed on site.
Open Doors, run by Build UK, inspires people to take an interest in construction and maybe even start a career in the industry. During 2017, over 3,000 visits were made to more than 130 sites.
This year, Open Doors is running from 19 - 24 March. Seven projects across the Berkeley Group will be opening the gates to their sites:
• Southall Waterside
• Royal Arsenal Riverside
• Kidbrooke Village
• West End Gate
• Kensington Row
• Richmond Chase
• One Blackfriars
• Prince of Wales Drive
Construction sites have hundreds of different jobs filled by all sorts of people from all walks of life. Throughout the week, you can meet some of them - from construction directors and site managers to apprentices and career changers. There are lots of routes into construction and visitors will be able to chat to the Berkeley teams and find out what roles might suit them.
In addition, Build UK will host the launch event of Open Doors at One Blackfriars in Southwark in February. Look out for the promotional video and more information at the end of February.
