Berkeley Homes Football Tournament Raises over £52,000 for Demelza
Berkeley Homes raised £52,800 for Demelza Children's Hospice on Friday 29th September when they held their annual five-a-side tournament at Goals Soccer Centre in Eltham.
36 teams took part in the competition and included well-known local companies like Stanmore and Box cleaning. On the day Vital Energi took home the winner's trophy which was presented by Berkeley Homes Production Director Jason Margetts who said: With the support of all the teams here today we have seen everyone play in the spirit of the game and raise a significant amount of money for this incredible charity.
"The work that they do enables children with life limiting illnesses to receive the support they deserve and make the most of the time they have left with their families and build memories."
Sarah Phillips OBE DL from Demelza Children's Hospice was at the tournament and following the final whistle spoke of the impact that this money will have and said: ""Every year this tournament is organised really well and the on-going support from Berkeley Homes East Thames is so important to Demelza. Over the last five years Berkeley have raised in excess of £200,000 through this annual event.
"Everyone who took part in today's event should feel very proud, as the money raised from this event will enable over 2640 hours of care for the children and families Demelza support on a daily basis."
Karl Whiteman, Divisional Managing Director for Berkeley Homes East and West Thames echoed Sarah's sentiments and said: "The money raised from this event will help Demelza to provide the type of care that really does make a difference to the young children and families who are affected by life-limiting illnesses. I would like to thank all of the contractors that supported this day and for everyone who took part in the competition to make it a success."
