Family Upsize to New Home at Holborough Lakes in Kent

Following buying their first home and getting engaged by Holborough Lakes’ tree-lined lake, Keeran and Sandy knew that when the time came to move it would be hard to beat their current location. So they didn't, and instead upgraded from their two-bedroom flat to a four-bedroom house at the same development.

Finding the Perfect Home for a Growing Family

Now married, with their first child Ariya, who was fast approaching one year old, the couple had decided it was time to move.

"We have loved our flat as it overlooks the lake, but with Ariya we've outgrown the space. We never planned to leave Holborough Lakes though as we just love the community here and it would have been impossible to find a setting as good as this."

Holborough Lakes is a collection of houses and apartments set in acres of parkland around an eight-acre freshwater lake in the heart of Kent. In addition to a new school, great for when Ariya gets bigger, other facilities at the development include an onsite crèche, residents' gym, village green, village hall and two trim trails leading down to the lake.

The buying process was simple for the couple, who were able to walk from their flat to the marketing suite to begin their search. Now with a little girl to consider, their requirements changed quite a bit since first buying with HTB in 2016.

"A garden and additional bedrooms were key for choosing our new home at Holborough Lakes. We're a family now and we needed a space we could continue to grow into."

Sandy adds:

"I was also ready to move away from open plan living. I absolutely loved that layout in our flat, but the fact that we now have an additional formal living room for entertaining as well as keeping an open plan kitchen and family room is great."

Stylish Architecture

The architecture at Holborough Lakes is inspired by the popular New England style with a nod to traditional architectural styles across rural Kent. Houses at Holborough Lakes include features such as timber cladding, traditional brickwork and steep pitched roofs, bringing trans-Atlantic style to the heart of Kent.

All homes are generously proportioned and flooded with natural light, creating ample space for family and guests. Like Keeran and Sandy's new home, the majority of houses also offer private gardens encouraging residents to enjoy outside living.

Surrounded by the Beautiful Outdoors

Keeran and Sandy found their dream family home immediately, mere moments from their flat, which has made the move much easier! Their new home is nestled between the site's trim trails and the tree-lined lake where they were engaged. The outdoor space, in addition to their own private garden, is something the couple really enjoy.

"The children's play area is fantastic, we've whiled away many hours there, Ariya loves it"

- Sandy Gill, Berkeley Group homeowner

"It's a wonderful community, you always meet people around the development enjoying the landscaping. Everyone always greets each other, it's a lovely community. We hadn't been in the flat too long before realising how peaceful it is here and knowing it was where we wanted to start our family."

In fact, so convinced were they of Holbrough Lakes' family credentials, that Sandy convinced her sister to move to the development with her family. Keeran and Sandy can now see her sister's front door from theirs, "So that helps with the babysitting!" the couple jokes.

Thriving Community

Holborough Lakes offers buyers the chance to buy into an established community with resident and leisure amenities on the doorstep. Once Ariya is a little older, Keeran and Sandy may wish to make the most of Holborough Lakes fully equipped on-site childcare at the Benjamin Rabbit nursery and Valley Invicta Primary School. Additionally, residents benefit from full-time estate management and an active residents' association that runs a regular social calendar.
