Berkeley Group's industry leading performance and commitments to drive innovation in the built environment sector were recognised this week with a double win at the EG Future of Real Estate Awards 2019.
Berkeley was named National Company of the Year, as well as winning the Future of Real Estate Award, with judges praising the company's "desire to go beyond the conventional and to create a world where people can thrive."
The wins follow Berkeley's role in pioneering Net Biodiversity Gain, which has seen the company start to measurably increase natural life across every new site it develops. Berkeley also became the UK's first Carbon Positive homebuilder in 2018 and delivered a net promoter score of 73.5; an industry leading customer satisfaction rating.
The last year also saw Berkeley build one of the UK first dedicated construction training academies and claim 27 Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) awards, securing an average score of 43 out of 50 from independent assessors. This was by far the best performance from a major developer.
Rob Perrins, Berkeley Group Chief Executive, said: "These awards recognise our drive to innovate, improve and take the lead on the most important challenges facing the built environment sector. That means helping nature to recover, tackling the causes of climate change and creating places where people from all backgrounds can live happily and sustainably for generations to come.
"I want to thank everyone at Berkeley for their passion and creativity they bring to their roles. Our driving purpose is to build fantastic homes, strengthen communities and improve people's lives. This guides everything we do and I'm very proud of the positive social impacts that stem from our work."
