Friday 2nd December 2016 - Berkeley Group has been named as one of Britain's most admired companies by Management Today. Berkeley came 4th overall across all sectors, won the overall Quality of Management award, and came 2nd in the Inspirational Leadership category.
It also came top in the construction sector for the 11th year in a row. Berkeley was the only housebuilder in the top 10, alongside companies including Unilever, Shell and McDonalds. Companies were marked by their sector rivals across 12 criteria including quality of marketing, financial soundness and quality of goods & services.
Berkeley Group's Chief Executive Rob Perrins said:
"We pride ourselves on building fantastic places and delivering great results, year in year out. For us, quality always comes first. It influences everything we do. This ranking reflects our passion for design, world class customer service and an amazing team of staff."
Over the last five years, Berkeley has built 19,000 homes and contributed over £2 billion to pay for affordable housing and community facilities. Berkeley's contribution to UK GDP in 2016 was £2.6 billion, up 21% from 2015 and the 8th consecutive year of growth. Berkeley has also recently launched new business commitments to go carbon positive and have 1,500 people in apprenticeships or vocational training by 2018.
