Eastbury House - New St James Development on Albert Embankment

On 14 August 2012 LB Lambeth's Planning Applications Committee voted to resolve to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of Eastbury House, an 11 storey 1960's office building on Albert Embankment. 
Located opposite the Tate Britain, with stunning views of the Houses of Parliament the scheme has been designed by Graham Stirk of world renowned architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners who have designed other iconic residential schemes in London such as One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, Neo Bankside in Southbank, and Riverlight in Nine Elms. The St James scheme at Eastbury House will offer a high quality mixed-use development, including 48 apartments, offices and a cafe. The building will be formed of three stepped bays ranging from 14 to 28 storeys, providing a dynamic skyline of varying heights.
At the base of the building, a striking four-storey public space will be created offering a café and piazza, which will become a focus for both the general public and residents. 
The site enjoys a unique orientation as this part of River Thames runs north south therefore river fronting apartments face west.
The scheme had the support of the GLA, CABE and English Heritage.
Vacant Possession is due to be secured in June 2013 and St James intend to start on site shortly thereafter which further demonstrates St James' commitment to both the VNEB Opportunity Area and wider London region.
