Climbing the Property Ladder: Frank and Paul’s Story
For many, climbing the property ladder represents more than just buying a new home—it’s about finding a lifestyle that suits your growing aspirations.
If you’re considering leaving the fast-paced city lifestyle for more space and greener surroundings, moving to Kent may be the answer.
Berkeley residents, Frank McGunningle and Paul White experienced this first-hand. After leaving London in search of a more relaxed lifestyle, space and value for money, they settled upon Ryewood—a leafy development in Kent.

Frank and Paul on Moving to Kent From London
As previous residents of Royal Arsenal Riverside in South East London, Frank and Paul decided to leave the city buzz behind them and move to the Kent countryside.
Why Did You Decide to Leave London?
Frank and Paul sought to climb the property ladder and upscale to a larger property, allowing friends and family to come and stay at their leisure. Having previously lived in a two-bedroom apartment in Royal Arsenal Riverside, they were keen to invest in a house as they searched for their second home together.
Having lived in London for many years Frank and Paul were no longer satisfied by the high prices and general feeling of overcrowding.
"Although we have really enjoyed living at Royal Arsenal, the development has expanded greatly over the last few years.
We wanted to move a bit further afield to enjoy a greener environment away from the hustle and bustle of the city.”

Why Did You Decide to Move to Kent?
An extensive property search led the couple to focus on the rolling Kent countryside, an area which boasts value for money and easy connections to London and the M25.
"A big factor in moving to Kent was the sense of being 'countryfied' without being isolated.
The development has such beautiful surroundings and instils a real sense of calm. Living adjacent to the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve is a bonus and enhances the feeling of space. The grounds are immaculate too, as we have come to expect from Berkeley.”

With no intentions of leaving their successful careers in the city, remaining within easy reach of Central London was important for both.
Kent is a commuter hotspot for London professionals, the transport links are a high priority for people looking to buy a home in this area. Dunton Green rail station, a five-minute walk away from Frank and Paul’s property, offers direct links to London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon Street in less than 40 minutes.
What Are the Amenities Like in the Local Area?
Frank and Paul were particularly impressed by the amenities available in their new development and wider county.
"We like to stay in shape so the private on-site gym is a welcome addition.
The wildlife reserve adjoined to the development is also a bonus, giving us somewhere pleasant and safe to run, with some wildlife to spot en route!"
