The highlight of this walking route in Oxted is St Peter’s Church. Built at the end of the 11th century, the stonework sections are believed to be some of the oldest in Surrey. You’ll also pass by Coltsford Mill—a stunning waterside barn on the River Eden—as well as charming Old Oxted.

While there are no steep hills, some parts can get very muddy, so consider appropriate footwear.

3. Titsey Estate and Oxted Circular Walk

Starting at Botley Hill Farmhouse (where you can grab a drink and bite to eat), you’ll enjoy various walks across different terrains, depending on your fitness level and preferred length.

Consider a five-and-a-half-mile walk in Oxted that leads you through a stunning valley and myriad of bridle paths. Once you reach the top, you’ll reap the rewards of the steep hills with spectacular views—including land you didn’t know was on your doorstep!

4. Chalkpit Lane via the Al Fayed Estate

Another popular walk in Oxted takes you high into the North Downs. If you journey along Chalkpit Lane and turn left after the underpass, you’ll reach the chalk pit via a public footpath. From there, you’ll head up some very steep steps until you reach the top—complete with benches to rest and enjoy the views.

You can then descend the steep slope or take the longer, gentler route to cross the bridge over the M25. Should you take the longer route, you’ll follow a track through the notable Al Fayed estate until you reach Barrow Green Lane, leading you back to Oxted. It takes a few hours to complete the walk, but the view from the top is worth it!

To extend your walk, head down Detillens Lane and take the public footpath just past the tennis club on the right-hand side of the road. Cross the field, and you will pass the little stream on Glebe Field—popular with dogs and children—before ending up on Granville Road, close to where you started.
Alternatively, you can veer left onto Bluehouse Lane or Park Road from Limpsfield for a leisurely walk to Oxted.
