Secrets From an Interior Designer

Sally Watson from award-winning design studio Abode reveals the ideas behind The Swan show apartment at Eden Grove and explains how you can recreate the look in your own home.

Taking inspiration from nature and its local surroundings, The Swan show apartment at Eden Grove in Staines-upon-Thames has a fresh, chic and elegant interior. “We’ve used influences from the natural world throughout. And we’ve been inspired by the curves of the Thames bridges,” explains Sally Watson from interior design studio Abode, who designed the showhomes at Eden Grove.

The swan motif, featured in artworks and accessories, is inspired by the Swan Upping ceremony, which happens annually on the river in Staines-upon-Thames and is now an important contribution to the conservation of swans.

“Bringing ideas from nature can create a calming, uplifting and energising atmosphere,” says Sally. “You can do this by using natural materials, green accent colours in furniture and natural motifs in the textiles and artworks you choose. We used blush pinks and soft greens, which really set the tone for a soft and welcoming atmosphere.”
