This long derelict jet engine testing facility is being transformed into a new village, that boasts a unique entrance with a humpback bridge, and a village centre that includes commercial and community space, and a village green.
A new primary school, nursery, café, shops and community building will help to meet residents' everyday needs, and a new 70-acre country park has been created on the edge of the site.

Community Building
St Edward focuses on the early delivery of community amenities and natural spaces to help establish a welcoming character and identity:
- the traditional village centre will include a two-form primary school, nursery, village green, community hall, shops, café, playground and park
- a Community Plan encourages residents to get together and involves people and organisations from the wider local area
- a traditional humpback bridge crossing a lake was created in the first phase, as a distinctive entrance to the village
Nature-rich Habitats
This private brownfield site is being brought to life with 100 acres of open space, including new wetland habitats, grassland and 1000+ additional trees:
- biodiverse parkland/ nature trails/ lake/ swales and ponds/ grassland
- St Edward has created a new 70-acre country park on the edge of the site
- the development is forecast to deliver a measureable net biodiversity gain
Sustainable Infrastructure
Hartland Village includes a mix of on-site amenities and infrastructure that will reduce single car usage, encourage active healthy lifestyles and minimise environmental impacts:
- nearly 3,000 cycle parking spaces, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, industry leading Green Travel Hub and electric car club
- rainwater harvesting, sustainable drainage network including lakes and swales
- traditional village centre meeting every day needs
Award-Winning Employment & Skills Plan
The Hartland Village Employment and Skills Plan provides a mix of skills training, apprenticeships and job opportunities for local people, with St Edward creating an on-site Community Training Hub in partnership with Farnborough College:
- Hampshire County Council was awarded St Edward a Gold Award in its Investors in Young People Awards 2019 for helping school leavers to successfully transition from education to employment.
