A Rugby Sevens tournament organised by St George has raised £27,000 for homelessness charity SPEAR.
On 4 March 2016, seventeen teams mauled their way through an afternoon of tag rugby at the Bank of England Rugby Club in Roehampton. All money raised from the fundraising scrum down will be donated to the Berkeley Foundation designated charity.
Managing Director of St George PLC, Michael Bryn-Jones said: "I would like to say a massive thank you to all the ruggers who took part in the St George Rugby Sevens Tournament. It was a fantastic day of sport. We crouched, touch paused and engaged to raise a huge amount of money for a very important cause.
"We are delighted that the tournament raked in £27,000 for our designated charity SPEAR, who help homeless people across south west London."
The St George squad try-ed very hard but the winning team was construction cost consultants Cove Five. Other teams included AJ Morrisroe, Briggs and Forrester, Bruce Gillingham Pollard, Conneely Group, Ground Construction Ltd, Henshall and Sheehy, Hyperoptic, JSA, JTP, Knight Frank, Lee Baron, Motiv8, Rendall and Rittner, Savills and Shadbolt.
