Figures by Go Ultra Low show that 28,000 low emission vehicles were registered during 2015. This was more than the combined total of the previous five years, and plug-in hybrids rose by 94 percent from 2014 to 2015 (see link). Transport minister Andrew Jones has stated that the UK has one of the fastest growing ultra-low emission vehicle markets in the world, and electric cars are to become as ubiquitous as the internet. Property searchers in ownership of an electric car are hot on the trail for developments with charging points, and Berkeley has been quick of the mark in providing them at Brunswick Square, Orpington.
New government schemes have been launched to convert street lights into charging points in various towns and cities to make for easier charging. However residents at Brunswick Square do not need to venture further than the private car park to charge their vehicles. Designated charging spaces can be used to 'refuel' vehicles by residents signed up to a smart meter provider, which is time efficient, and very convenient.
Peter Smith, Managing Director of Berkeley Homes Eastern Counties, comments: "The vast increases in low emission car sales has prompted a sudden surge in charging point instillations. However Brunswick Square provides a much more convenient way of 'refuelling' with designated charging spaces in the resident's car park. This allows residents to charge their vehicles while in the comfort of their apartment. The charging points are an example of Berkeley's attention to the environment and mirrors the eco-friendly and energy efficient construction of the apartments."
Brunswick Square has been designed to an excellent specification, these stylish apartments benefit from individually designed Leicht kitchens, offering modern Bosch appliances. The master bedroom includes built-in wardrobes, with an en-suite shower room and family bathroom in larger apartments. All bathrooms and en-suites are finished with contemporary white sanitary ware and chrome fittings.
The town of Orpington has gone through an impressive regeneration, and now offers an exciting range of retail, dining and leisure facilities, conveniently located near the development. These include a seven-screen Odeon Cinema, Bella Italia restaurant, Pure Gym which will open 24hrs and a Premier Inn hotel. These exciting new facilities are in addition to the existing range of shops and leisure attractions, including the shopping and leisure centres, library and Sainsbury's.
Brunswick Square is situated in a unique position within greater London and on the border of Kent, making for easy access into the capital and a swift venture into the Garden of England. Here there are a wealth of outdoor and historical pursuits such as Leeds, Rochester and Dover castles as well as many stately homes. Kent also offers a brilliant mix of modern as well as traditional activities, such as Brands Hatch British Motor Racing and the stunning Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
Located near the station and within Travel Zone Six, residents can use an Oyster Card to travel into and around London for a wealth of leisure activities such as theatres, museums and art galleries. Orpington railway station provides fast and frequent trains to central London, including London Bridge, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria. Two trains will also be added to Orpington's peak services from August 2016, increasing trains into London to up to nine times an hour.
