First Time Parents Lay Down Roots at Grand Union

Why Grand Union?

Financial services professionals Alberto (39), and his wife Silvia (35) have been renting in London for the last six years, but in August 2023, with their first baby on the way, they decided it was the right time to buy a home of their own at Grand Union in Alperton. 

“We were renting a one-bedroom home in Archway and had been told by our landlord that our rent was increasing by 40%. This simply wasn’t sustainable, especially with our son on the way, so we started looking at homes for sale across London that would allow us to have more stability”, says Alberto.

Alberto and Silvia weren’t wedded to a particular location but knew they wanted to live in a new build development where they wouldn’t need to do much work to their apartment to make it feel like home. However, it was important to the first-time parents that they bought somewhere that would meet the needs of their growing family. 

“Having bought a three-bedroom apartment we now have so much more space, with room for an office, a nursery, and our family from Italy to not only visit, but to stay”, explains Alberto. “We are excited to see our family grow here and enjoy walks along the canal, and bike rides when our son is old enough.”

A New Canalside Neighbourhood

Grand Union is a 22-acre vibrant new canalside neighbourhood by St George, a proud member of the Berkeley Group. Alberto and Silvia join over 400 residents who have already moved into Grand Union. 

“For us, it really was love at first site when we moved into our new home at Grand Union. We have some great neighbours and really enjoy looking out over our balcony to views of the canalside and communal gardens, which creates a very relaxing vibe. We are pleased to have moved in at such an exciting phase of the development, and we are excited to watch it grow as more residents join us and more shops and restaurants open”, explains Alberto.

“Our apartment itself is perfect. We didn’t own any furniture before moving due to living in fully furnished rentals, so it was the perfect situation for us when we were told we could buy the Showhome with all of its furnishings in tack. The interior design is beautiful and perfect for our first family home.” 

Grand Union is located on Beresford Avenue in Alperton. It is accessible by public transport via Stonebridge Park and Alperton stations, which offer direct links from central London via the overground & Bakerloo line, and Piccadilly line, respectively.
