Berkeley St Edward has scooped a major honour at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards, being named winner in the Housebuilding and Property Development Sector.
The 'sector awards' are presented to organisations with a track record of outstanding performance in health and safety within their field. Entrants must be able to demonstrate a robust and high-quality safety management system, together with a minimum of four years' consistently excellent or continuously improving performance.
Julia Small, RoSPA's head of awards, said: "Judges were impressed by Berkeley St Edward's excellent standard of entry, which showcased a very impressive safety management system, and senior management commitment to high-standards of safety and health. We were particularly impressed with their contractor management systems and workforce involvement initiatives."
Paul Vallone, divisional managing director at Berkeley St Edward, said: "Berkeley St Edward are delighted to be recognised at these prestigious awards for the second time in five years. We have an exceptional health and safety record on site and this time we have gone even further by introducing initiatives to make sure our staff and supply chain are safe and healthy when they leave work each day.
All of this is down to the hard work and team effort of our staff and subcontractors who I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to."
