I joined Berkeley as part of the 3rd Berkeley Sales Academy in the summer of 2014. I was previously in an operational regional management within the gambling industry where I had built a 7 year career.
The Sales Academy provided me an opportunity to get a level of training unrivalled in this industry. Exposure to all aspects of the business, sales technique workshops and a firm grounding in the company's structure, culture and vision provided me an extraordinary platform for me to launch a new career. I have been fortunate to have worked across a number of our developments in Berkeley Southern leading to my current role as Project Sales Manager for Knights Quarter in Winchester. Other highlights within my time at Berkeley so far are completing the Berkeley management programme, involvement with our digital innovation working group and the participation of the design and development of our forthcoming new sales database.
I was fortunate enough to be part of the first Berkeley Group sales academy in 2013 following my psychology degree. I had always been interested in property industry and knew I wanted to be involved in a customer facing role. I was already aware of The Berkeley Group and their prestigious reputation growing up in London and seeing the changing London Skyline.
I started my career within the first phase of Goodman's Fields and was also part of the team who successfully launched Saffron Square and 250 City Road. Following this I was given the opportunity to manage the sales team at Woodberry Down, one of Berkeley Groups largest regeneration schemes. The sales academy training was imperative, teaching me not only valuable sales techniques but the process and planning that goes into building a development.
I am now the Regional Manager of the North East London division, working a diverse selection of developments across North East London. I look forward to further my growth within Berkeley over the coming years.
Following my degree in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham, I started up my own mobile catering company selling Crepes at festivals and shows across the UK. After a year on the road I left the company in my parent's capable hands and decided I wanted a move to London and get a job in property development. I was on the 2nd Berkeley Sales Academy in September 2013.
Having never done sales before, the academy offered invaluable training, we learned about all aspects of the business and its influence on the London property market. The sales technique training taught me so much, dissecting every moment of the customer journey and how it can influence the crucial 'close'.
After completing the Sales Academy, I was placed at St Edward Homes based at 375 Kensington High Street selling multimillion pound apartments and penthouses. Within my first six months of being with St Edward, my sales director took me to our Dubai office to help with the launch of Benson House. It was incredible to see how much of a global presence the Berkeley Group has.
In 2016 I was fortunate enough to be offered a year-long secondment as a business development executive in our Hong Kong office. The Hong Kong office is one of the most experienced and influential centres across our six overseas operations.
Prior to gaining an interest into the property industry, I graduated with a BSc Psychology degree. In 2012, I was afforded an opportunity to work for a Community Interest Company working in partnership with Local Authorities restoring voids and long term empty properties.
In an attempt to diversify my knowledge in the property industry, I applied for the Berkeley Group Sales Academy in September 2013. The Berkeley Group Sales Academy was not only a unique experience, but an invaluable opportunity. From developing exceptional customer service to high-end diligence, the Sale Academy instilled the attributes required in being part of a world class business.
In November 2013, I secured a permanent role as a Sales Consultant with Berkeley Homes East Thames. However, by continuing to build on the key skills I gained through the Sales Academy and my own determination, I was promoted to Sales Manager at Kidbrooke Village - one of the largest regeneration schemes in London.
I joined the 3rd Berkeley Sales Academy in 2014 following my degree. Whilst studying for my degree I worked for a high end retailer which gave me a great appreciation for brand loyalty and delivering a level customer service to be proud of. On top of this I have a keen interest in property which meant that the Berkeley Sales academy was the ideal choice for me.
The academy teaches a standard of customer service that sets us apart from our competitors in a highly competitive market. I have continued to practice what I learnt at the academy and believe this has been the foundation for my development.
After graduating from the academy I joined the sales team at Goodman's Fields. I have also had the opportunity to work at Woodberry Down and 250 City Road being part of a number of new launches across the Berkeley Capital (North East London) portfolio. I am now back at Goodman's Fields managing a team of three and working towards my next step up in the business.
I was very proud to join the 8th Sales Academy in 2018 after my graduation from a Master in Media and International Development. The most remarkable part of the Sales Academy is the formal training provided by a very wide range of people, each of them with a very specific background and a unique story that brought them to Berkeley.
The teaching covered every aspect of the property development business, ranging from construction knowledge to sales skills, including personality analysis and cultural differences. It didn't only provide me with a solid understanding of the industry, but also helped me develop confidence to speak with clients and partners of Berkeley.
After completing the 8 weeks of the Sales Academy, I joined the Royal Arsenal Riverside site for 5 months and gained hands-on experience in the Sales & Marketing Suite. Sales skills and knowledge from the Sales Academy training proved immediately useful and helped me adapt very quickly to this new environment. I am now on secondment in Berkeley Shanghai office as a Business Developer Executive for a period of 18 months. I am most grateful to Berkeley Group and the Sales Academy program to let me start my career with this unique combination of experiences and tailored mobility opportunity.
I am proud to have been part of the Berkeley Sales Academy. Prior to joining Berkeley, I worked for one of the most admired British Brands for over 3 years in Customer Services, Training and Coaching.
Sales Academy was a unique opportunity for me to learn about the Berkeley brand from the leaders themselves and to have training/coaching from the best in class Trainers and Coaches. It is a comprehensive program, with a combination of Classroom, Onsite and Sales Suite learning, which equipped me with the right tools, techniques and has given me confidence to kick start a successful new career in a world class company.
Since graduating from the academy, I have grown into a successful Sales Consultant with achievements like Sales Person of the Quarter, 100% score on Mystery Shopping and an opportunity to be part of a successful and competitive team at one of the largest and busiest residential schemes.
Joining the Berkeley Sales Academy was the beginning of an incredible journey. I continue to learn and discover new aspects of the company and this industry which continues to inspire me.
