Berkeley Group has opened applications for its 2026 apprenticeship scheme.
The award-winning programme offers opportunities across technical, commercial and construction roles on some of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration and homebuilding projects. It is designed to help apprentices build long-term careers in the built environment while gaining hands-on experience.
Participants benefit from a competitive package, dedicated study time, expert mentoring, structured training and access to a wider range of employee benefits.
Berkeley operates an ‘applicant blind’, capability-focussed recruitment process, which reflects the company’s commitment to attracting a diverse range of talent into the built environment sector.
Apprentices begin the programme with a week-long induction, before moving on to tailored training programmes designed to provide hands-on experience alongside industry-leading experts.
Catherine Hawkett, Senior Future Skills Manager at Berkeley Group, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of apprentices. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading business, build your career and develop practical skills while being paid on the job. And Berkeley stands to benefits from your talent and fresh perspective.
"Supporting people at the very start of their careers is a priority for us, and we’re committed to giving every apprentice the confidence, experience and support they need to succeed.”
Berkeley Group is committed to attracting and developing new talent and to creating a working environment that promotes respect, support, wellbeing, safety and inclusivity. The apprenticeship scheme forms part of a broader range of training and development opportunities across the business.
The company supports skills development through a network of dedicated skills managers and mentors, the Berkeley Academy training centre, an online Learning Management System, and a range of external training partners.
The application process follows the success of last year’s intake, which saw women represent 35% of new apprentices, more than double the construction industry average. The same focus on blind recruitment and capability-focused assessment has also reshaped graduate hiring, with women accounting for 65% of those joining the business in September 2025.
Last year, an average of 8.7% of Berkeley’s workforce was employed in earn and learn roles, and the company has been ranked the fourth best apprentice employer in the country across all sectors. These ratings from TheJobCrowd are based on anonymous feedback from trainees.
Berkeley’s apprentices are key to supporting the future of the company, as it brings forward 32 of the country’s most challenging long-term regeneration sites.
Future Skills is one of ten strategic priorities in Berkeley’s long-term business strategy, Our Vision 2030. The company is also a Gold member of The 5% Club, a network of leading employers committed to ensuring at least 5% of their direct workforce are in earn and learn positions.
Applications for the apprenticeship scheme close on 20 February 2026, with successful candidates starting the programme in September 2026.
