Looking for a summer adventure without the hassle of traveling miles to get there?
If so, Brent Cross Shopping Centre, which is just a 6-minute journey from Silkstream, has a packed calendar of events, activities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, no matter what your idea of a fun day out may be.
Enjoy Exciting Days Out Close to Home in North London
As the UK’s first indoor ‘shopping mall’, which was opened in 1976 by King Charles III, Brent Cross has always been ahead of the curve and to this day continues to be one of the UK’s leading retail destinations.
This year, the former owners of the iconic luxury shopping destination, Bicester Village, took almost full ownership of Brent Cross Shopping Centre, allowing them to have greater control over the exciting retail, food and experiences on offer to its 10.6 million annual visitors.
With over 120 stores spanning fashion, beauty, and tech, this is destination shopping at its best. And whilst shopping might be the main event, the food offering at Brent Cross is reason enough to visit.
The standout? District - a bold new street food destination offering everything from fiery Thai stir-fry dishes to stacked Sidemen burgers. Add in familiar names like Pret, M&S and Leon, and you’ve got breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted.
Fun for All the Family
The school holidays are upon us, handing London’s parents the annual dilemma: how do we entertain the kids for six long weeks? Activities at Brent Cross Shopping Centre are here to help.
If you’re looking to escape everyday life without leaving the Borough of Barnet, have a go at Game Over Escape Rooms. Whether you’re solving the mysteries lurking in Lost City of Atlantis, cracking the cryptic riddles of Alice in Wonderland or facing your fears in the Nightmare Hotel, each room is designed to test your wits and teamwork.
Just In Carnival is making a return this year for a day of Caribbean fun. On Saturday 16 August you can enjoy a vibrant celebration featuring costume-making, steel pan workshops, dancing, games, face painting, henna tattoos in Claremont Park.
From July 25 to August 17, the John Lewis car park will be transformed into a vibrant open-air roller rink. Allowing you a chance to swap screens for skates, the sessions take place between 11am and 9pm Mondays to Saturdays and 12pm and 6pm on Sundays. There’s even live DJs bringing the vibe - spinning non-stop hits, throwbacks and feel-good tunes.
Ready, set, slide! For those less interested in wheels and puzzles, Topsy Turvy at Brent Cross is an indoor playground designed to keep kids buzzing with excitement and parents stress-free. Think multi-level climbing frames, twisty slides, vibrant ball pools, and a fully padded, dedicated zone for toddlers. The clever one-way system also means smooth sailing for little adventurers, whilst the on-site café offers a much-needed pit stop for grown-ups to relax and recharge – all under one roof for a fun filled family day out.
Get Moving for Free
Tired of the treadmill? Whether you’ve recently taken up Couch to 5k or are a marathon runner, run clubs are perfect for those looking to join a social, like-minded community. Luckily for those local to Brent Cross, there are two weekly run clubs, which take place in and around the area.
This includes the popular Claremont Park, which reopened in June 2022 as part of Brent Cross Town’s pledge to create more than 50 acres of green space. After each session, you can enjoy a discounted drink with the group at Cricklewood Coffee Roasters.
If running isn’t your thing, Brent Cross still makes it easy to get active and out of the house with a variety of free pop-up classes every week. Take a deep breath at yoga classes in the Visitors Pavilion, or bat it out with baseball sessions at the 108, Europe’s largest indoor baseball facility.
You can also enjoy 10 top-of-the-line outdoor padel courts, offering expert-led sessions suitable for all levels. All the gear, rackets, and balls are included so you can just turn up and play!
