Ealing community enjoys a special party with live music and fun games
Local people from Ealing and beyond came together last Friday 3 June for a Jubilee-themed jamboree. Held between 11 am and 3 pm at The Green Quarter’s park Central Gardens, attendees danced in the sunshine to a steel drum band and were wowed by a range of exciting circus acts.
The performers, which included a plate spinner, juggler and stilt walker, also taught some of their skills in workshops held throughout the event. In addition, traditional lawn games were set up for all to enjoy, with parents and children playing swingball, limbo, quoits and more.
A variety of tasty Mediterranean street dishes were provided by Miru Homemade, and a vintage coffee van served refreshing cold and hot drinks.
Marcus Blake, managing director at Berkeley St George City, says: “We delivered this green space exactly for this sort of community event and it was fantastic to see so many local people attending. This is only the beginning for us, and in the coming years we’re planning to create more areas of parkland, as well as woodland and wetland with our partners London Wildlife Trust.
“As these new areas are being built, we look forward to hosting many more events at The Green Quarter, starting with movies and live sport at our outdoor cinema for residents and the wider community.”
This summer, The Green Quarter will host a pop-up outdoor cinema screen at Central Gardens’ amphitheatre. It will operate from 27 June to 8 August, showing sports events such as Wimbledon and films.
At The Green Quarter, Berkeley is transforming a former car park into a place rich in nature and wildlife. Upon completion, it will feature an 8-acre wetland and a 4.5-acre park, the first phase of which has already been delivered and hosted the Jubilee celebration. A new bridge across the Grand Union Canal is also being created, opening up access to 90-acre Minet Country Park.
