Throughout September, thousands of people celebrated London's biggest natural asset, the River Thames. The Totally Thames festival saw a creative and diverse programme aimed at inspiring Londoners to explore the Thames. With over 150 events happening, there was a wide variety of entertainment on offer, here are our picks from the programme...
The World's Oldest Boat Race
Apprentice river workers have passionately rowed the race for Doggett's Coat and Badge since 1715, believed to be the oldest continually competed sporting event in the world. Totally Thames brought the race to life in the heart of London, and it proved once again a perfect event to watch with friends and family. Surrounding this historic race, Berkeley Group have a range of waterside developments, including Royal Arsenal Riverside, which is one of South East London's most exciting riverside developments, occupying a prime location along the River Thames.
Something a bit more exhilarating? Well we checked out the Thames Rockets for a thrilling speed boat ride down the Thames, which took place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the duration of September. With speeds of up to 35mph, the ride was a fun-filled twist and turn down the river. On the south side of the River Thames, our new luxurious development The Corniche offers panoramic views over the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye - perfectly placed to capture the beauty of London.
Wine over Water
One for all wine lovers, London's first floating wine festival arrived on the Thames this September. Winemakers from all over the world presented their award-winning wine to guests, who were offered an opportunity to learn about the stories and passion behind the wine from the professionals. If you're a river-faring wine lover then why not take a look at one of our thriving riverside communities. Battersea Reach offers contemporary designed apartments with stunning views across the Thames. Imagine sipping on a large glass of shiraz whilst relaxing in an open space living room looking out onto the river.
We thoroughly enjoyed this year's Totally Thames festival, imagine being able to watch all of these exciting events from your apartment window? For those looking to purchase a riverside property take a glance at our London developments.
