The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has named Berkeley Capital as Winner of the Construction Housebuilding & Property Development Industry Sector at its 2023 Health & Safety Awards.
This top honour reflects the high standard of health, safety and wellbeing performance over several years as well as robust management systems.
From nearly 2000 entries and 28 Sector award winners, Berkeley Capital was selected as one of three finalists for the highest accolade in the RoSPA Awards, the Sir George Earl Award. This recognises the company’s outstanding ambition for health, safety & wellbeing development and performance across all economic sectors.

- Berkeley Homes (Eastern Counties) Ltd came away with the President’s Award for winning more than 10 consecutive Gold Achievement Awards
- St James Homes secured the Gold Medal for winning more than 5 consecutive Gold Achievement Awards
- St George PLC, St George (City), St George (North London & West London), St James (London North) and St Joseph Homes – Glasswater Locks, all received Gold Awards for their safety performance
These latest wins add to a list of more than 30 RoSPA Awards for Berkeley Group in the last five years, including the prestigious Diamond Award in recognition of an "outstanding corporate contribution to raising safety standards across the residential building sector".
Berkeley Group's Annual Injury Incidence Rate is 0.72, compared to the industry average of 2.72. The company has consistently outperformed the industry average over the last decade and targets zero harm on every site.
