Teams from St George and Berkeley collected more than 40 bags of litter from areas along the Grand Union Canal last month, to support the Great British September Clean.
St George's Grand Union fronts on to the canal in Brent. The new neighbourhood will connect Alperton residents with this stretch of the canal for the first time in decades, with new pathways and seating areas for visitors to enjoy.
Some seven miles on, the waterway meets Berkeley's The Green Quarter in Ealing.
Volunteers from Ealing Council, Hayes Town Partnership and the Friends of Minet Country Park joined the site team to litter pick in the park and canal side.
Almost half of the Southall Waterside site will be public open space, including two new parks and 1km of landscaped canal frontage.
The big clean initiative is run by Keep Britain Tidy, encouraging people to get out in their communities to keep our public spaces clean
