The Queen’s Garden in Camden: The Perfect Balance of Nature and City

This Spring a beautiful new green space is opening in the heart of Regent’s Park.

The Queen’s Garden, a two-acre oasis created in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, will transform a once-disused nursery into a peaceful retreat filled with plants, winding pathways, and quiet places to pause.

Set to open to the public from Monday 27th April, the garden is just 10 minutes from Camden Goods Yard and honours the late Queen on what would have been her 100th birthday this year. Princess Anne has already paid a private Royal visit to mark the occasion.

The Queen's Garden Design

Designed by award-winning practice HTA Design, the garden features over 200,000 seasonal blooms, a wildlife pond and wildflower meadows; all thoughtfully curated to celebrate the Queen’s life and legacy. The design includes the Queen’s favoured plants, notably Lily of the Valley from her wedding bouquet, as well as sprigs of rosemary and myrtle.

Visitors can explore the striking new pergola draped with climbing plants and the viewing platform created from a former water tower. This elevated vantage point offers sweeping views over the garden's tranquil landscape, a rare perspective in the heart of one of London's most beloved parks.

Access to London’s Most Loved Parks

Among the nearby highlights is the vast Hampstead Heath, ranked as London’s second best park, with swimming ponds, meadows and the historic Kenwood House offering a truly immersive escape from city life.

Even closer, Regent’s Park delivers classic London beauty, home to the world-famous London Zoo, meticulously kept gardens, lawns, a boating lake and tennis courts.

And just a 12-minute walk away, Primrose Hill possesses one of London’s most iconic views, perfect for watching the sun set over the London skyline.

Hidden Gems to Discover

Beyond the famous names, there are smaller, hidden-away green spaces to discover in the area. Queen Mary’s Gardens is a romantic, flower-filled escape, while Caledonian Park offers a quieter, community feel with sports and play areas, meadows, woodland and a striking 19th century clocktower.

The Perfect Balance of City and Green Space

In a fast-paced city like London, access to green space is essential. It brings balance, enhances wellbeing, and offers moments of calm amidst the chaos of city living. Camden Goods Yard captures this perfectly: a place where you can step into nature just as easily as you can step into the city.

With the opening of the Queen’s Garden just around the corner, there has never been a better time to experience it for yourself - it’s no surprise that Camden was recently recognised as one of the UK’s happiest places to live!
