Residents Facilities Officially Launched at Glasswater Locks in Birmingham
Luxury Residents’ Facilities at Glasswater Locks Now Open
This month Berkeley, a proud member of the Berkeley Group, marked the opening of its luxury facilities at Glasswater Locks in Birmingham. Welcoming guests to explore the newly completed shared spaces at the canalside development in Birmingham’s Eastside.
Glasswater Locks also offers a collection of 1 & 2 bedroom apartments located in the heart of Birmingham’s Learning Quarter and less than half a mile from forthcoming HS2 at Curzon Street Station.
The Canalside Club: Modern Amenities for City Living
The launch event celebrated the opening of the Canalside Club, a suite of resident-only amenities designed to support modern city living and foster a strong sense of community within the development.
Guests were treated to delicious canapés and cocktails and were greeted by a speech from Managing Director, Stephen Kirwan. They were then able to enjoy the on-site facilities, from the pool table and gaming room to the resident lounge and cinema room.
Another highlight was the new Hyrox gym and Yoga studio where a live demonstration took place to showcase all the new equipment.
Entertainment and Shared Spaces for the Community
Entertainment came in the form of mesmerising tricks from a magician and a soundtrack provided by a live saxophone player. Attendees also had the opportunity for a selfie-moment to remember the occasion, thanks to a pop-up photo booth.
Interiors Inspired by Birmingham’s Industrial Heritage
Set across a series of thoughtfully designed internal spaces, the facilities include a range of options for socialising and relaxing.
All the interiors reflect Glasswater Locks’ wider design approach, combining clean, contemporary finishes with subtle references to the site’s industrial and glassworks heritage.
Concierge, Co Working and Meeting Spaces
With a 24-hour concierge service, residents benefit from a constant front-of-house presence. This covers a range of services, from handling parcels and deliveries to assisting with day-to-day requests as part of everyday life at Glasswater Locks.
The residents’ study lounge and separate meeting room provide a flexible space for both work and leisure, functioning as a co-working and meeting area by day, and a quieter retreat for reading or unwinding in the evening.
Fitness and Wellbeing Facilities Including HYROX Gym
For fitness and wellbeing, residents have access to a fully equipped Hyrox gym and a separate Yoga studio, catering to a wide range of training styles.
A Hyrox gym offers training for Hyrox’s global fitness race format, which pairs running with functional workout stations such as sled pushes, rowing and wall balls.
From cardio machines and free weights to resistance equipment designed for Hyrox conditioning, the facilities support both structured workouts and more informal exercise routines.
Social and Recreational Facilities for Residents
The games room offers a more social setting, complete with a large-format television and a brand-new PlayStation 5. Here residents can enjoy a space to relax together or spark a little friendly competition.
There is also a recreational area with a pool table, shuffleboard and a coffee machine, perfect for relaxed breaks, informal meetings or spending time with neighbours.
Private Cinema Room for Premium Screenings
Meanwhile, the private cinema room allows residents to experience deluxe screenings of the latest releases.
Featuring adjustable cinema armchairs and blackout curtains, the space is designed to recreate the atmosphere of a dedicated cinema.
Together, the spaces provide residents with places to work, relax, exercise and socialise, all within the comfort of their own buildings.
Stephen Kirwan, Managing Director, said, “Opening the Canalside Club is an important milestone for Glasswater Locks. These facilities are designed to be an extension of residents’ homes and act as places where people can meet neighbours, focus on work, stay active, or simply relax, all within an artfully designed and cosy environment.”

Glasswater Locks, Amenities FAQs
What is a Hyrox gym?
A Hyrox gym is a fitness space designed specifically to help people train for Hyrox, a global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. Hyrox events follow a standardised format worldwide: athletes complete eight 1 kilometre runs, each followed by a functional exercise such as sled pushes, sled pulls, rowing, burpee broad jumps, farmers carries, sandbag lunges and wall balls.
Because the race format is always the same, Hyrox gyms typically include the exact equipment used in competition, such as SkiErgs, sled tracks, rowing machines and open floor space for functional movements. This allows participants to train with the same pacing, strength work and endurance challenges they will face on race day.
