Capturing Cranbrook

This summer and autumn, we are hosting two exciting competitions to help Capture Cranbrook and celebrate the beautiful surrounding wildlife. 

We are inviting amateur photographers, painters and sketchers of all ages to participate in the brand-new ‘Capturing Cranbrook’: a celebration of the town and its habitats through lens, brush or pencil.

You are invited you to take part in a brand-new wildlife photography competition celebrating Cranbrook. From buzzards, beetles and butterflies through to owls.

Take part and you could have your work seen by award-winning photographer David Jenner, who will be offering his ‘top tips’ on how to take the best photo, as well as providing feedback for those lucky runners up and winners to help hone your skills. 

David Jenner as part of a panel of three judges, with the remaining judges comprising a Berkeley representative and a figure from Times of Tunbridge Wells, will be selecting the best pictures with fantastic prizes up for grabs – so don’t hold back! 

The competition will host the following categories with the winners of each awarded a £300 voucher to Jessops, a leading UK photographic company specialising in printing and specialist photography equipment.  

Categories

  • 11-15 year olds: open to those with a fledgling interest in photography and/or nature
  • 16+: open to those with basic experience looking to develop this further

The competition will open on Wednesday 15th August with final submissions to be sent by Wednesday 14th September.

You are invited to take part in a brand-new art competition to celebrate the wildlife and nature around the Cranbrook area. 

We have partnered with Claire Murthy, a Kent-based painter and illustrator, who specialises in capturing the wildlife residing in Kent’s gardens and local countryside. This competition is a great opportunity to get creative and capture Cranbrook’s natural world, landscapes, fauna and flora. Submissions will be judged by Claire Murthy, alongside representatives from both Berkeley and Times of Tunbridge Wells.

The competition will host the following categories with the winners of each awarded a professional arts materials bundle worth up to £150!!

Categories

  • Beginners – open to those looking to explore their artistic talents but are new to drawing
  • Intermediate – open to those with experience in illustration looking to hone their skills and perfect their talent

How to enter

The competition opens on Wednesday 7th September, with final submissions to be sent by Wednesday 5th October.
