Lakeside Development Draws City Dwellers to the Countryside

Last summer, Dr Vajramani, 38, and his wife Pavanee Kuthethur, 34, moved from Southampton in Hampshire with their daughter Avni, 3, to the award-winning Berkeley Homes development Holborough Lakes in Kent.

Dr Vajramini comments: "We were living in a contemporary bungalow in Southampton but we were looking to relocate to reduce the commute to work for my wife. We visited a number of developments around London but couldn't find what we were looking for, so we decided to widen our search and explore the Home Counties.

"We looked at a number of places in Kent and decided to buy at Holborough Lakes as we felt that it had so much to offer. The quality of life, education, weather and proximity to London are all excellent. Plus, it's easy to get to Gatwick and the south coast, meaning European getaways are a breeze. The local economy is strong too - so we felt it gave us the potential for real estate appreciation too.

"When we visited Berkeley's Holborough Lakes, we found it offered so much more than other developments in the area. Not only is it set among acres of parkland and a large fresh water lake, but it even has its own onsite diving school!

"There is a full day care nursery and a school there too, which were a big draw as it means our daughter is well cared for both now and for the future. The onsite gym and Village hall for community life also influenced our decision.

"Holborough Lakes is conveniently located for both of us to get to work. Pavanee works at Citibank in Canary Wharf, and it takes her just 45 minutes by car to drive there, and I am a doctor working at a number of hospitals close by.  So we both have a very easy commute.

"The homes are very well designed both internally and externally, with lovely spacious rooms and good quality fixtures and fittings.

"We reserved our home off plan in December 2015 and put down a deposit of 25%, paying £500,000 for the property - a large five bedroom home with a fantastic master suite, which has a dressing room and a private balcony too.

"It is the largest house design available on the development - with a very spacious internal living area of 2,127 square feet and we also have the largest garden too. We believe the price we paid offered great value for money and investment potential; since we moved in last summer we have already seen a significant appreciation in value for similar homes on site.

"We found the overall buying experience with the Berkeley team, from viewing and booking to the completion and after sales process, to be a thoroughly professional and satisfying experience.  Holborough Lakes is such a great place to live with a great community of people and the estate is well managed by the RMG group. We are very happy living there, "he concluded.
