The Berkeley Foundation was set up by the Berkeley Group in March 2011. It is a registered charity that supports young people and their communities across London and the South of England.
The Foundation focuses on making a difference in four key areas: helping people to access and sustain good quality housing; reducing barriers to work; developing young people's talent; and supporting people to live positively with illness or disability.
We summarise this as Homes, Jobs, Skills and Care.
Since its launch, the Foundation has committed over £11.2 million to more than 100 charities and worthy causes. These range from in-depth Strategic Partnerships with programmes like Street Elite and charities like Shelter and Crisis, to smaller scale partnerships with the local Designated Charities chosen by staff in our offices and on our sites.
The Foundation's resources come from a variety of sources. To date, Berkeley Group employees have raised an amazing £3.6m through fundraising events and Give As You Earn. External donations and support comes from Berkeley's subcontractors, supply chain and consultants. The Berkeley Group provides core funding and pays all overheads, which means that all money raised goes directly on charitable activities.
