Berkeley was proud to be the headline sponsor at this year’s annual Newham Civic Awards, recognising, celebrating and rewarding those who contribute towards the Borough’s success.
Held on 5 February at the historic Old Town Hall Stratford, the event brought together award recipients, their families, local councillors, and community members for a memorable evening of recognition, music and entertainment.
Berkeley Group is making a significant investment in Newham, more than any other London Borough, with five brownfield sites coming forward between Berkeley’s St William and Capital operational companies. These sites include TwelveTrees Park and Bromley-by-Bow and will help Newham in tackling the local housing crisis, as well as providing wider benefits to local infrastructure, jobs and green spaces.
The support for these awards demonstrates Berkeley’s long-term commitment to working closely with Newham Council and local champions to have a positive impact, particularly with a focus on supporting social mobility, one of our key responsible business pillars.
Congratulations to the winners, as well as those nominated, who were deservedly recognised for all their efforts towards making Newham a great place to live and work.

Divisional Land & Development Director Harry Lewis said: “With Berkeley currently planned to deliver over 10,000 homes in Newham, it was incredibly important to us to support this gathering of the community to celebrate what makes this Borough such a special place. Congratulations to all of the award winners, who have made a truly inspirational difference, and we look forward to working with many of you in supporting local people and organisations.”
Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, said: “The Newham Civic Awards celebrate the extraordinary contributions of residents and organisations that make our borough vibrant, diverse and inspiring. Now in its third year, the Awards have become a cherished tradition, recognising acts of kindness and civic commitment. This year, we proudly received 317 nominations, supported by 424 individuals who came together to honour the spirit of community. We are grateful to everyone who submitted nominations, our exceptional nominees, the Civic Awards Panel, and our generous sponsors.”
