Berkeley Group’s 2025 Sustainability Report is now live, highlighting the positive environmental impact delivered by the company from May 2024 to April 2025.
Structured around three priority areas - Climate Action, Communities and Nature - the company’s approach continues to deliver meaningful results, with 92% of all homes built located on regenerated brownfield land.
Highlights from the last 12 months include:
Climate Action
- Achieved a 77% reduction in our scopes 1 and 2 (market-based) emissions since our 2019 baseline year
- Named CDP Supplier Engagement Leader
- 17 sites operated diesel free having switched to low carbon biodiesel
- Over 60 embodied carbon assessments completed to date
- Updated embodied carbon limits and business-wide guidance launched
Communities
- Creating 535 public amenities such as schools, doctors’ surgeries and play areas across our live development sites
- 43,000 people reached through community engagement activities
- 31 regeneration sites have community plans in place
- 92% of completed homes constructed on sustainable brownfield land
Nature
- 57 sites committed to creating a biodiversity net gain to date
- More than 1,200 acres of new or measurably improved habitat set to be delivered
- Over 380 acres of woodland committed or delivered
In the past year, the company received several accolades, including the Environment Award at the Better Society Awards, and the Excellence in Habitat Restoration Award at the ESG Edge Awards.
