Royal Arsenal Riverside’s Annual Winter Festival and Christmas Market, hosted by Berkeley, was a great success once again, bring together the local community in celebration of the festive season.
Attracting over 1,500 local residents, the event in Artillery Square was hosted with Berkeley’s local partners Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency and Woolwich Works, alongside local contractors including Rendall & Rittner who provided a free raffle and reindeer making.
With a very little help from our very own Santa, London Borough of Greenwich Deputy Mayor Cllr Linda Bird had the honour of turning on the Christmas lights, placed at the heart of the community.
The market featured 47 local traders who delighted residents with their range of food, drinks and much more on offer. The festival saw Christmas carol performances from choirs at Plumcroft Primary School, Cardwell Primary School & South Rise Primary School, and a Bopping Bunnies show, where families sang along to songs and played hand bells. The crowd were also treated to an interactive dance experience from Protein Dance and Christmas-themed set from Fusion Orchestra.
Berkeley Capital Development Director Paul Prichard said “Thank you to the residents at Royal Arsenal Riverside for coming out in such strong numbers to celebrate our community as we approach the festive season. It was heart-warming to have so many local organisations and small businesses involved in the festival and market, demonstrating the strong partnerships that we have developed and promoted here.”
Deputy Mayor Cllr Linda Bird said “I was so pleased to attend what was a truly festive Christmas Market . There was so much to enjoy with live music from Greenwich Music Service, and so many amazing stalls from our local community with crafts and food for sale.”
The Royal Arsenal Riverside neighbourhood is one of London’s most exciting riverside communities, set amongst 12 acres of public open space, including a 1km riverside walk and a host of cultural, heritage, retail and leisure facilities, as well as an on-site Elizabeth Line train station.
