Our new showhome in The Harris, The Green Quarter is now open, a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment finished with natural, earthy tones to bring the outside in. Our interior designer John Coetzee offers his insight into the concept behind the design.
Bringing the Outside In
"The vision for the interior design of the new showhome in The Harris was to create a warm, inviting space that instantly feels like home, where you can simply walk in, unpack and relax. The goal of the scheme was to achieve a harmonious balance between natural woods, luxurious fabrics, and nature-inspired prints and patterns. The overall palette blends greens and creams punctuated with black elements and splashes of tropical prints that become one cohesive scheme.
The colour palette and materials were chosen to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere that takes inspiration from the green, natural environment surrounding The Green Quarter. Our intention is always to bring the freshness of nature into the interior space.
Key design elements incorporated into the showhome include a feature slatted timber wall to give an interesting backdrop that zones the dining area within the living room. The addition of a picture rail with brass hooks and chains in the master bedroom adds a nostalgic touch, while a bold wildflower wallpaper with gold accents brings both a nature theme and a hint of sophistication into the room.
Get the Look
To achieve this style within your own home, try starting with your main colour palette as a base, for example, choosing your sofa colour. Add pattern and interest through accessories like cushions and artwork, and pick up elements of the base colour into other items within the room to create a unified design.
In the show home, fresh and contemporary furniture and décor were selected to reflect current design trends while maintaining a timeless appeal. The interior design encapsulates modern design sensibilities that integrate seamlessly with the natural and vibrant lifestyle offered at The Green Quarter. The second bedroom offers a flexible space for working from home by incorporating a desk that can be folded away and a day bed which pulls out into a double bed to host guests.
Sustainable Choices
In line with our ethos at The Green Quarter, sustainability and eco-friendly choices remained at the heart of the design, particularly through the use of solid wood furniture such as the dining table, sideboard and bedside tables. These items were sourced from Tikamoon and are accredited with the FSC® label, guaranteeing sustainable forest management and the protection of biodiversity, flora and fauna; ensuring forest conservation over the long term."
