Pupils and teachers from Cranleigh C of E Primary School joined the team from housebuilder Berkeley at their Leighwood Fields development in Cranleigh, Surrey, last week to celebrate the launch of the new playground.
The children buried a special time capsule to mark the occasion, which included items such as drawings of their favourite park or green space, a class register and newspaper front covers from the day were placed inside. The children also had the opportunity to be among the first to play on the new equipment in the playground and have fun in the sunshine before enjoying some refreshments.
Daniel Chipps, Area Sales Manager at Berkeley commented: “It was fantastic to meet with the children and staff from Cranleigh C of E Primary School and take part in celebrations to launch the new playground. The time capsule allows for a piece of history to be placed in the playground that will be there for a long time. Community is at the heart of Leighwood Fields, and amenities such as this provide residents with an area to socialise with each other and meet their neighbours. We thank Cranleigh C of E Primary school for attending and are so glad they had an enjoyable morning.”
Alice Brockman, Teacher at Cranleigh C of E Primary School added: “We’ve all had a lovely morning at Leighwood Fields. The children have thoroughly enjoyed being outside in the sunshine and getting to use the new playground. It’s been great to be involved in the launch event and the pupils loved preparing their drawings for the time capsule.”
The playground at Leighwood Fields, equipped with zip wire, slide and climbing frame, is just one of the outdoor amenities provided to residents and visitors at this family-focused development. A Country Park adjacent to Leighwood Fields has just opened complete with a stunning lake, adventure play area in addition to lots of beautiful green space and picnic areas.
