The Green Quarter Wins Socially Responsible Corporate of the Year 2026

The Green Quarter in Southall has been recognised as one of West London’s leading sustainable regeneration projects, winning Socially Responsible Corporate of the Year 2026 at the West London Business Awards. This achievement highlights the development’s long term commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement and social value.

Hosted by comedian Shappi Khorsandi and attended by more than 400 people, the event brought together leading organisations from across West London to acknowledge the importance of local business to growth, innovation and community.

As one of London’s most ambitious housing and regeneration schemes, The Green Quarter was recognised for its environmental targets and community engagement which form the heart of its development framework. These are helping to deliver long-term benefits for both residents and those living and working in the wider borough.

How the Green Quarter Delivers Community Impact in Southall and Ealing

Delivering meaningful social value sits at the heart of our bespoke Community Plan.

Over the past three years, we have delivered over 180 events, contributed over 600 volunteering hours, engaged with 69 local businesses and hosted more than 50+ sessions at local schools.

The Green Quarter has also played a pivotal role acting as a case study to shape the Berkeley Group’s wider Community Framework guidance, which is applied to all developments. Supporting teams across London, Birmingham and the South of England, takeaways from The Green Quarter can help new and upcoming schemes apply a similarly structured approach in order to build strong communities from the outset.

Supporting Jobs, Education and Local Partnerships in West London

Creating opportunities for local people remains a key priority across the development.

Working alongside the London Borough of Ealing through its WEX Care Leaver programme, we hosted a two-week work experience initiative for young people looking for new career opportunities and offered mentoring advice.

We also support Ealing Mencap, a charity that supports individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs to live more independently in West London. Gathering ten volunteers from The Green Quarter, we helped renovate the garden at Enterprise Lodge, to create a more welcoming outdoor space for residents, while during Ealing Mencap’s 60th anniversary celebrations, we hosted an inclusive fashion show that raised vital funds and awareness for the organisation’s work.

Partnerships with local schools have also long been an important part of the project’s community engagement.

At The Green Quarter, we have engaged with over 6,000 pupils through events organised on-site or in partnership with local schools and colleges. We are heavily invested in local education, supporting over 12 primary and secondary schools in and around Southall by delivering career workshops, mock interviews and presentations, construction taster sessions and environmental day experiences.

Feedback from a local Deputy Headteacher following one of the visits highlighted how engaging and valuable the experience was for pupils as it inspired them to think more about sustainability and helped them see how developments can positively transform their local area.

She said: “Year 6 had a terrific afternoon - an inspiring development showing how sustainability can improve their area. Many children couldn’t believe they were still in Southall. The Berkeley team was magnificent, engaging the children with local history and showing how nature can flourish.”

We also work closely with West London College and the University of West London both supporting their construction students with work placement opportunities on- and off-site as well as delivering hundreds of apprenticeship opportunities across the various disciplines.

Parkside Yards: A Cultural and Community Hub at the Green Quarter

Community is a central theme behind the design of The Green Quarter and nowhere is this more apparent than our community spaces, built for both residents and locals to come together.

Parkside Yards is our premier cultural and community hub and features an arts programme, buzzing events calendar, family-friendly play areas, alongside a number of food and leisure offerings.

Designed as a place for people to meet and create, the space regularly hosts exhibitions, artisan market days, workshops and business gatherings. It has also become a platform for local entrepreneurs and creative talent to showcase their work.

Since opening last year, the Brilliant Gastro has quickly established itself as a meeting point for friends, families and neighbours. Owned by the Anand family, who have spent the past five decades feeding Southall, the gastropub is an exciting fusion of their Punjabi roots with a modern flair – bringing something fresh to the Southall dining scene.

With 50% of the site dedicated to open space, including 13 acres of landscaped parkland, nature is a key aspect of The Green Quarter that promotes a broader sense of tranquillity for residents and locals alike.

The vast open space provides areas to walk, cycle and explore the greenery surrounding the apartments, enabling residents and visitors a variety of opportunities to reconnect with nature.

The Green Quarter is also home to a pioneering on-site tree nursery cultivating more than 600 native British trees, helping to enhance the area’s natural landscape while supporting long-term biodiversity.

Beyond its physical spaces, the development has also become a driving force for wider sustainability conversations. Last year, we hosted Ealing Council’s Climate Summit event, welcoming more than 150 local stakeholders to discuss climate action and community sustainability initiatives.

The event brought together community groups, organisations and businesses delivering “Better Living” initiatives across the borough, with The Green Quarter selected as the venue to showcase how sustainable transport, climate action and community engagement can successfully work together within a major regeneration project.
