Shops, Cafés and Restaurants at Grand Union

A key part of living at Grand Union is the growing collection of independent businesses that help bring the neighbourhood to life.

Crepes + Coffee

Among the most distinctive is Crepes + Coffee, the canalside café operating from the historic narrowboat PAVO on the Grand Union Canal in the middle of our development. Run by former Connaught Hotel butler Andrei Speriatu, it has become a local favourite for speciality coffee, freshly made crepes and waterside views.

Ladudu

The food offering continues to expand with Ladudu, an independent Vietnamese restaurant serving comforting dishes.

Food is inspired by home cooking and fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

The menu celebrates classic, comforting dishes: think fragrant bowls of pho, vibrant stir-fries and homemade desserts, ideal for those seeking nourishment during the winter months.

In addition to dining, the restaurant plans to host workshops and cooking classes for adults and children, further strengthening community connections.

Eggy Mart

Residents can also visit Eggy Mart, an Asian supermarket offering groceries, snacks, drinks and household essentials from across China, Japan, Korea and Thailand.

What sets Eggy Mart apart is its unique combination of food and lifestyle shopping.

This includes an extensive range of pet supplies such as food, accessories and even a skincare line.

The store provides residents with a convenient way to access quality products for both themselves and their pets in a single trip.

Co-op

For everyday convenience, the on-site Co-op provides groceries, fresh produce, bakery items, meal solutions and food-to-go options just moments from home.

The purpose-built supermarket offers fresh produce, bakery items, food-to-go, meal solutions and household essentials, alongside Costa Coffee Express and a range of vegan and plant-based products.

Azar Mahroof, Co-op Store Manager, said: “Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently. The store also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”

Family-Friendly Amenities at Grand Union Wembley

Grand Union has been designed with families in mind, offering facilities that support children, parents and carers at every stage.

Full of Beans Cafe

A standout addition is Full of Beans, the family-friendly play café founded by former BBC Apprentice semi-finalist Khadija Kalifa. Combining interactive soft play with a relaxed café environment, it provides a welcoming space where children can explore while parents enjoy coffee, catch up with friends or work remotely using the venue's Wi-Fi facilities.

Khadija says: “The whole ethos behind Full of Beans is around community and connection. When I had my first daughter 11 years ago, I felt quite isolated. Launching Full of Beans was my response to that. Our cafés are somewhere mums and dads can meet and let off steam over a coffee while watching their kids let off steam in the soft play area. They’re a hub for parents and kids.

“I love our space at Grand Union – it’s very chic with contemporary art on the walls and European-style outdoor seating by the canal. In the evenings, the fairy lights criss-crossing the canal sparkle.”

In partnership with Bouncing Beans (Playframe), the café features a play area of over 25 interactive elements designed for children up to eight years old. With cushioned surfaces, foam structures, and colourful equipment, the space offers a safe and engaging environment for little ones to explore and enjoy.

Peapods Early Learning Centre

For younger children, Peapods Early Learning Centre has opened a purpose-built nursery at Grand Union. The Ofsted-rated "Outstanding" provider offers dedicated baby, toddler and preschool rooms designed to help children learn, explore and develop in a secure environment.

Peapods, founded in 2013 by Aash and Pouja Magdani, provides a secure, flexible environment where children develop at their own pace.

What sets Peapods apart from many other early learning centres is its understanding of the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics on future job opportunities and how they weave this into their curriculum.

Aash Magdani, Founder and Group Managing Director, believes it is important to establish a centre that focuses on the development of skills, values and dispositions that are transferrable as children grow up. The team uses characters like ‘Terry the Triceratops’ and ‘Daisy the Dog’ to promote learning through play, exploration, and critical thinking.

Aash Magdani said: “Me and my partner live around a 20-minute drive from Grand Union and first came across the development when passing by. Location is key for us, but the fact that the space at Grand Union is a new build means we can put our own stamp on this nursery, which really excites us.”

The Grand Union Peapods nursery comprises three rooms including the Baby Room, which will accommodate between 9 to 12 babies, a Toddler Room with capacity for up to 20 toddlers, and a Preschool Room for 24 to 28 children.

Resident Facilities at Grand Union

One of the features that makes living at Grand Union unique is its collection of resident-only leisure facilities.

The Lock

At the heart of these is The Lock, an exclusive space designed to help residents relax, socialise and spend time together.

Facilities include a two-lane bowling alley, a dedicated entertainment room for gaming, karaoke and film nights. It also boasts Berkeley Group's first-ever e-darts experience, featuring advanced automatic scoring technology. The smartboard detects the darts precisely where they land, and instantly displays the scores on the large screen TV alongside the game-play graphics.

Think of the Lock as your own private arcade – a perfect hangout where kids can compete while adults enjoy a drink with friends and connect over a game or two.

Alongside The Lock, residents can make use of a dedicated residents' lounge.

Combined with extensive outdoor spaces and canalside walking routes, these amenities help support healthier, more active lifestyles.

Canalside Living and Open Space at Grand Union

A defining aspect of life at Grand Union is its waterside setting.

The development has been designed around the Grand Union Canal, creating a neighbourhood where green space and outdoor living play an important role in everyday life. Once complete, residents will benefit from 11 acres of open space, including wildlife meadows, landscaped gardens, walking routes and an amphitheatre.

As part of our commitment to biodiversity, bug boxes and residents' allotments are just some of the ecological initiatives adopted here at Grand Union.

The development will also feature a vibrant canalside piazza with cafés and restaurants, helping to create a destination that residents and the wider Wembley community can enjoy throughout the year.

For residents, additional outdoor amenities include rooftop terraces, podium gardens and landscaped communal spaces designed for relaxation, socialising and enjoying the waterside surroundings.

Living at Grand Union Wembley

What sets Grand Union apart is not any single amenity, but how they work together to create a genuine neighbourhood.

As new businesses continue to join the development, Grand Union is establishing itself as one of the most exciting new neighbourhoods in Wembley.

Marcus Blake, Regional Managing Director of the St George team at Berkeley, commented: “Grand Union has fast become a destination for the local community in Wembley. You’ll often spot a fitness bootcamp taking place on the piazza, families tucking in to a delicious crepe and a cup of coffee from our historic narrowboat PAVO, or even people paddleboarding along the Grand Union Canal.”

Grand Union's amenities extend beyond the development itself. Residents are also within easy reach of some of Wembley’s most popular family attractions.
