Discover Bath

Bath is a vibrant and historic city, known for its stunning Georgian architecture, Roman Baths, and rich cultural scene. The city centre offers a unique blend of independent boutiques, artisan cafés, fine dining, and high-street favourites, all set against a backdrop of beautiful crescents and cobbled streets.

With renowned attractions like the Royal Crescent, Thermae Bath Spa, and the Abbey, plus green spaces and riverside walks, Bath offers the perfect balance of heritage, leisure, and modern living.

Fuelled by History

Although better known for its Roman baths and Georgian architecture, Bath also adapted to the technological changes of the 19th century. As the city expanded in the 19th century, the Gasholder site near the River Avon became essential infrastructure, was developed by the Bath Gas Light and Coke Company around 1818 to store coal gas, which powered street lighting, warmed homes, and supported small-scale industry. This marked a shift from Bath’s image as a spa retreat to a more modern, industrialised city. Though the gasholder was decommissioned in the late 20th century, its legacy remains part of Bath’s layered history, as the site now moves toward a new chapter of regeneration.
