A Spotlight On: The Green Quarter
At Berkeley Group, we're excited to offer some of the finest homes on the market and have extensive experience of developing large scale regeneration sites to provide green space and modern living amenities.
One such project can be found in west London - this month, we're turning our spotlight to The Green Quarter.
Where is The Green Quarter?
The Green Quarter can be found in the London Borough of Ealing in the west of the city. Located in Zone 4, the development has excellent transport connections that run right through London and beyond for your convenience. A brand new Crossrail station, which recently opened on site, means Heathrow Airport is just a quick 8-minute journey away and central London just 17 minutes away, giving plenty of options for commuters looking to connect with the city.
Key features of the Green Quarter
The Green Quarter is aiming to be one of the most biodiverse developments in the UK. Green space is at the heart of everything at The Green Quarter, from the vast new parks to podium gardens, giving a charming feel to the development. This is combined with great attention-to-detail to each and every apartment giving a tailored feel to every property and ensuring they are suitable for everyone from first-time buyers and young professionals to families and those looking to downsize to the city.
Green living
Ambition and scale are two core considerations for The Green Quarter. Nearly 50% of the site is dedicated to open green space and landscaped gardens, while wetlands, plants and wildflowers will provide new habitats for wildlife to flourish and new green space for the community to enjoy. All in all, 13 acres of parkland will be delivered, while access will be opened up to the neighbouring 90-acre Minet Country Park - meaning Berkeley is delivering or opening up access to more green space than St James's Park and Green Park, making it perfect for those who enjoy life on the green side.
A choice of resident facilities
The Green Quarter boasts an excellent selection of new facilities for residents. A gym and swimming pool is being delivered for all of your fitness needs, including the latest equipment for your routines, while all residents will benefit from a concierge service, resident lounge and co-working spaces. A new town square will welcome people to The Green Quarter and lead directly to a new commercial neighbourhood, which will provide a mix of day-to-day amenities for the whole community to enjoy.
Perfect for everyone
The Green Quarter's fantastic combination of green space, amenities and transport connections makes it the ideal living space for first-time buyers, families, professionals and the elderly, providing something for everyone to enjoy. The location of the development places it close to exceptional schools, while its leafy and laid-back surroundings allow retirees to enjoy a slower pace of life while living in one of the most exciting and interesting cities in the world.
Professionals will get a lot from the numerous transport links here, including a new Crossrail Station on site which recently opened with the line opening in the first half of 2022.
Things to do in Ealing
Ealing is one of the most populous boroughs in London, and with that title comes a wealth of things to see, do and enjoy with your family and friends. The area itself covers seven major historical towns in the London area and enjoys superb connections with the rest of London and beyond by public transport, in particular the new Crossrail stations.
Ealing has earned the name 'Queen of the Suburbs' over the years, thanks to its extensive green spaces that run through the borough. Many of London's prettiest parks can be found here, each offering a different day out to explore and discover - and the Southall area is no different. One of the best on offer is Southall Manor House and Gardens. The oldest building in the neighbourhood, this grand stately home dates back to the Victorian era, and is surrounded by resplendent parklands and gently landscaped areas with rockeries, flower gardens, bowling greens and tennis courts. There's even a croquet lawn for you to practice on!
Just a few miles from The Green Quarter, Osterley Park & House is one of the last surviving country estates in London. The National Trust site is surrounded by gardens, park and farmland and is a great place to spend the day enjoying the outdoors. For the fitness enthusiasts, Osterley Park hosts a park run every Saturday morning. Other green and nature-oriented areas worth a visit include the Grade II-listed Gunnersbury Park, with over 75 hectares of gardens to explore, and Hanwell Zoo, a petting zoo with rabbits, guinea pigs, exotic birds and reptiles to discover, perfect for a family day out.
Besides its parks, Southall is also home to some charming hospitality venues. Traditional and friendly old pubs like the Wheatsheaf and the Plough lend a timeless feel to the area while a number of restaurants offer a cornucopia of different cuisines and dishes to try for yourself. Take a dive into the wonderful world of Indian food at the award-winning, family run Brilliant restaurant, or tuck into freshly made sourdough pizza at Franco Manca, among many other fantastic choices.
Finally, Ealing's excellent location makes it easy to get out and experience everything London has to offer. Westfield Shopping Centre at White City, just a short journey away by public transport, offers something for everyone from department stores and high street favourites to luxury brands. Just next door to Ealing, the borough of Hounslow has a wealth of day-out opportunities to make the most of including a Premier League football team in Brentford and a marvellous Musical Museum, showcasing the world's musical histories through a series of engaging and intriguing displays. There is a wealth of musical instruments here for visitors of all ages to marvel at as they go through the exhibitions.
With its fantastic approach to green living in London, The Green Quarter offers an excellent opportunity to those looking for healthy living, with lots of open space on the doorstep, but just a short journey from central London.
