Standing 22 metres tall, the mill towers over the market town and is often referred to as one of the oldest and finest-looking mills in the UK. For day trips, the 14th-century Scotney Castle and Sissinghurst Castle are just a short drive away and provide the perfect place to learn more about the history of the local area.

If you’re looking to stay active, there are plenty of sports facilities nearby. The Weald Sports Centre has a swimming pool, gym, and tennis, basketball, and badminton courts. There’s also the Hemstead Forest Equestrian Centre for keen riders, and for anglers, there’s the popular Hartley Lands Fishery. If you enjoy eating out, Cranbrook is home to the popular Hartley Coffee House and Farm Shop, where you can stock up on local produce while having a coffee and snack in the café. For traditional pub food, head to The George Hotel. Famous for hosting several monarchs, King Edward I and Queen Elizabeth I, today it’s known for its delicious home-cooked meals.
