St James was established in 1996, originally as a joint venture with Thames Water. Over the past 20 years, the company has established a reputation as a design-conscious developer regenerating brownfield sites and transforming them into attractive developments whose design not only creates desirable places to live, but also has a positive impact on the environment.
St James is a proud member of The Berkeley Group, a UK leader in the visionary delivery of major urban regeneration schemes. The Group has been responsible for shaping much of the modern development along central London's riverside, replacing former industrial areas with vibrant places to live, work and play.

Sustainability is vital to the way St James operates. Already leading the field in sustainable development, standards are being raised even higher through the Berkeley Our Vision initiative.
Berkeley Group was awarded the UK's highest accolade for business success - The Queen's Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development 2014. This is the second time the Group has been recognised, having previously won the award in 2008. The award recognises five years of continuous achievement in delivering sustainable development.
Merano Residences Wins RIBA National Awards
Merano Residences by St James, part of The Berkeley Group, is the only major residential developer to be announced as one of the 2019 RIBA National Award winners, which recognises the best architecture completed in the past 12 months. The scheme was selected from the RIBA London award winners, which were determined earlier this year.
Merano was selected thanks to its design, delivering St James's vision that judges described as a 'mixed-use development of the highest architectural quality'. With its clear attention to detail and honest approach to the structure and materials, the award celebrates its distinct presence along the Albert Embankment - offering maximum views and daylight, whilst also responding to a variety of potential challenges, from its features to mitigate rail noise to the clever use of limited space.
