St George, London's leading mixed use developer, is delighted to welcome the first residents to North West London's most exciting new destination, Beaufort Park.
Michael Meanley, Managing Director of St George Central London commented: "We are delighted to welcome the first residents to their new homes at Beaufort Park, Barnet, London. This is a significant milestone for the development, which has been very well received by owner occupiers, first time buyers, sharers and investors alike.
To celebrate, the first occupiers were met by the Leader of the Council for London Borough of Barnet; Councillor Mike Freer, Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Lynne Hillan and Michael Meanley on Friday 10th August at Beaufort Park.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Mike Freer commented, "Beufort Park is a great development which will become the Docklands of North London, but without the water."
Occupiers of the first apartments to be handed over include Mr Ezquerro-Canete and Mr Brown and family.
Mr Ezquerro-Canete, 19, a student living locally with his parents in Cricklewood has been bought a two bedroom apartment by his parents as a first step onto the property ladder. His father, commented, "These days it can be very hard for young people to get onto the property ladder and we were delighted to have been able to support him whilst at University, after which he will take responsibility for the apartment. Beaufort Park will become an enjoyable new community which was a decisive factor. We have also purchased a second property for our other son and will let this while he finishes his education."
Mr Brown and family bought a two bedroom apartment at Beaufort Park through the Government's new First Time Buyer's Initiative. The couple, both local postal workers previously lived locally with parents and have two small children and commented: "When we first heard about the new initiative for first time buyers, we were delighted to qualify, and purchase a new home, which we could otherwise not afford. We all love the development and could not wait to move in. It's a dream come true."
Councillor Hillan, added "I am delighted that this great scheme in the London Borough of Barnet [Beaufort Park] has attracted a range of people, especially those with children who find it most difficult to gain access to the housing ladder in a place like Barnet with high and rising house prices."
The groundbreaking new mixed-use development is situated on the historically important former RAF Hendon Aerodrome site and is to become a vibrant mixed-use development, with stylish contemporary homes surrounded by tree-lined boulevards and landscaped parkland. Incorporating a Young's bar and restaurant, convenience store, Bright Horizons nursery, resident's gym, business centre, 24 hour estate-management, ATM and managed car parking, Beaufort Park will offer the conveniences required for a modern lifestyle, whilst being only a few minutes' walk from Colindale Underground station with direct rail connections to the heart of London and beyond.
The First-Time Buyers' Initiative at Beaufort Park is being provided in association with English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency, to make more affordable new homes available to qualifying first time buyers and key workers.
Duncan Innes, the English Partnerships director responsible for the First Time Buyers' Initiative, added: "New househunters can sometimes fall back on financial assistance from family or friends, while for others our First Time Buyers' Initiative is making home ownership a reality at fantastic schemes like this right across England."
