St George, a proud member of the Berkeley Group, has worked with Co-op to launch its latest store at Grand Union, a new canalside neighbourhood in Wembley, London.
The new store joins a growing number of leisure, hospitality and essential services already operating at Grand Union, forming part of the 22-acre mixed-use development, which is set to become an all-encompassing community. The new store creates around 15 new local jobs, contributing to the total 400 new jobs across the Grand Union development.
Designed to support the local area, the purpose-built 2,500 sq ft Co-op at Grand Union includes an instore bakery; Costa Coffee Express and hot food, alongside a focus on fresh, healthy and chilled produce; meal ideas and everyday essentials; sandwiches and food-to-go; Fairtrade products, flowers, chilled beers and wines; ready meals, pizzas and, free-from, vegan and plant-based products.
The online home delivery of groceries is available through Deliveroo and Uber Eats - where orders are picked fresh in the local store and delivered quickly and conveniently in the community.
A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in store to enable the community to recycle ‘soft plastics’ such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots.
Marcus Blake, Regional Managing Director at St George, commented: “Grand Union has fast become a destination for the local community in Wembley. You’ll often spot a fitness bootcamp taking place on the piazza, families tucking in to a delicious crepe and a cup of coffee from our historic narrowboat PAVO, or even people Paddleboarding along the Grand Union Canal. We will continue to enhance this by bringing exciting new offerings, public spaces and amenities to Grand Union, such as our new Co-op store.
“We know how important it is for our residents to have options nearby where they can pick up their groceries, evening meal or grab a quick lunch that they can enjoy on-the-go or by the water. We’re really pleased to be able to provide this now and we are confident that the community will find the store a fantastic addition to the offerings and amenities that form part of Grand Union.”
Azar Mahroof, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We have had a great response to the opening of the new store at Grand Union. The whole team is delighted to have launched it, and we are looking forward to welcoming residents and visitors to Grand Union into their Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently. The store also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
The Co-op at Grand Union is open between 7am-10pm daily and is located on 6 Caldon Boulevard, Wembley, HA0 1EX.
