On Tuesday May 3, St Edward welcomed parents, pupils and teachers from Elvetham Heath Primary School and Art with Angie School to Hartland Village to announce the winners of Fleet & District Carnival’s art competition.
The Carnival committee launched the artwork competition earlier this year using the carnival’s theme of ‘circus’. Children from local schools were invited to submit their designs and after careful consideration of dozens of entries, five students scooped a prize on the night. Developer St Edward, a gold sponsor of this year’s Carnival, handed out the prizes with the Carnival’s Chairman at Hartland Village’s Sales & Marketing Suite.
The winners in the age group categories were Charlie, Thalia and Isla, all from Elvetham Heath Primary School, and Joshua from Art with Angie School. The overall prize was awarded to Henry from Elvetham Heath Primary School, and a special schools’ prize awarded to Elvetham Heath Primary School. All winners took home a certificate and a voucher to buy art supplies.
Leanne Walmsley, Chairman of Fleet Carnival, said: “The presentation evening at Hartland Village was a fantastic way to celebrate the success of the art competition winners, and the return of Carnival after a two-year break. It’s great to keep local schools involved and it was brilliant fun looking at the creative, colourful and artistic entries from such bright, young students.”
Danny Rowland, Sales Director at St Edward, added: “St Edward is very proud to be a part of the local community in Fleet and to be sponsoring the Carnival for a third time, as we continue to create a new and thriving neighbourhood at Hartland Village. We’ve seen some excellent artwork and it has been a pleasure to welcome more new faces to the development and to host the prizegiving ceremony.”
St Edward’s vision for Hartland Village is to create an exceptional place – in design, architecture, and in the delivery of a true community. Hartland Village will be home to a new primary school, shops, cafés and other facilities, making this development a destination in its own right. The development is surrounded by extensive areas of woodland interspersed with open heath creating a distinctive landscape. The Country Park that forms part of the scheme features wildflower meadows, picnic areas and butterfly banks. Cycle paths, trim trails and walkways encourage active and social lifestyles, providing links across the village, the Country Park and the surrounding forests and local towns.
