Community event for all with live music, entertainment and games on Friday 3 June
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, The Green Quarter is hosting a fun extravaganza for all to enjoy. Held at the development’s park Central Gardens from 11am until 3pm on Friday 3 June, the celebration will feature live music, games and a selection of tasty food and drink.
Attendees will have the choice of several delicious dishes, including Mediterranean street food from Miru Homemade. As well as this, entertainment is planned that can be enjoyed by the whole family, such as a steel drum band and a professional stilt walker.
Marcus Blake, managing director at Berkeley St George City, says: “The Green Quarter is a fantastic place to bring together the entire local community and we can’t wait to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a fun-filled celebration.
“We’re looking to restore nature and deliver new habitats for wildlife at The Green Quarter, something which the Royal Family consistently supports, making this the perfect setting for a Jubilee event. We look forward to welcoming many of our residents and the wider community to join us on Friday 3 June, for what is set to be a fun, action-packed day.”
The event takes place at Central Gardens, The Green Quarter, 1 Randolph Road, London UB1 1BL, a few minutes’ walk from Southall Station and bus routes 105, 120, 195, 482, E5 and H32. Pedestrian access to the event will be via Beaconsfield Road, and for those arriving from the station, along The Straight.
This celebration is the first of many events set to be held at The Green Quarter this summer. This includes a number of movie evenings at Central Gardens’ pop-up outdoor cinema screen, which will operate from 27 June to 8 August and also show the Wimbledon Tennis Championships as well as the climax to England’s Test Cricket series against India.
At The Green Quarter, Berkeley is transforming a former car park into a place rich in nature and wildlife. Upon completion, it will feature an 8-acre wetland and a 4.5-acre park, the first phase of which has already been delivered and is hosting the Jubilee celebration. A new bridge across the Grand Union Canal is also being created, opening up access to 90-acre Minet Country Park.
The development is five minutes from Southall Rail Station, which will soon be a stop on the recently launched Elizabeth Line. This will provide a direct service to Heathrow in 8 minutes, Bond Street in 17 minutes and Canary Wharf in 31 minutes. For more information, please visit The Green Quarter website.
