Berkeley Group's leading approach to sustainable development has been recognised at the Housebuilder Awards 2019.
Judges praised the company's "advanced philosophy", which has seen Berkeley pioneer Net Biodiversity Gain within the homebuilding industry and start to measurably increase natural life across every new site.
Berkeley has been a carbon positive business since 2018 and is committed to creating new homes that can operate at net zero carbon by 2030.
Collaborations with E.ON, to pilot renewable energy technology in the home, and Barclays Bank, to provide the UK's first green home mortgages, also impressed the judges.
Karl Whiteman, Berkeley Group Divisional Managing Director, said: "Sustainability underpins everything we do and we're proud to be driving positive change in our industry.
"The built environment sector has a key role to play in restoring nature, making smarter use of resources and tackling climate change. I want to thank our dedicated staff and partners for embracing these challenges and leading the way."
