St George, London's leading property developer, is pleased to announce that Kumon, the world's largest supplementary education provider, has opened a new study centre at Dickens Yard.
The Kumon Centre at Dickens Yard is the official flagship study centre and also provides an instructor training facility with access to live classroom facilities for new and existing instructors to gain hands-on experience of working with students.
The study centre at Dickens Yard offers children in the local community the opportunity to develop their maths and English skills through a daily study programme of individualised worksheets and centre visits up to twice a week.
Kumon is the biggest commercial provider of supplementary education globally, offering learning opportunities to 4 million students around the world. It has over 650 study centres in the UK and Ireland that deliver Maths and English worksheet-based study programmes for more than 70,000 children. The Kumon Institute of Education was founded in 1958 in Japan and Kumon's unique method of learning was developed in 1954 by Toru Kumon, a gifted Japanese teacher.
Gavin Hubrich, Commercial Property Director at St George, commented:
"We are thrilled that Kumon's flagship centre is opening in Ealing, which is proving to be one of West London's most vibrant areas. The young bright minds of Ealing will benefit from the world-renowned study centre at Dickens Yard, creating a positive impact on the local community. Over the coming months, Dickens Yard will see a wide range of leisure and retail brands set to open, creating a leading destination in West London."
Masahiro Shimizu, President of Kumon Europe and Africa Ltd, added:
"As a business, Kumon focuses on locations where they feel they can have the most positive impact on families and communities, whether that be in urban, suburban or rural settings. Understanding our local area is vital to the service that we provide to families. We were impressed with the investment in Ealing which clearly impacts residential growth, and growing numbers of families in the borough are important to us. As an international business, access to Europe and Africa is also important, so we value the access to Heathrow airport and the forthcoming Crossrail completion."
Dickens Yard is a thrilling new lifestyle quarter in Ealing, comprising 700 new homes and a range of lifestyle brands now open including Triyoga, Charlotte's W5, Blo Bar, GAIL's Bakery and Benham & Reeves. A recent wave of commercial lettings set to open at Dickens Yard include Tonkotsu, Balans Soho Society, Darwin & Wallace, Gymbox, The Skinny Kitchen, Jigsaw and Content by Terence Conran.
Dickens Yard is playing a significant role in the wider regeneration of Ealing ahead of the arrival of the Elizabeth Line at Ealing Broadway station. The expanded frequency of the Elizabeth line will see commutes reduced and journeys made easier via new, high-capacity trains. The new station will halve journey times to central London, with travel to Bond Street in 11 minutes, Liverpool Street in 18 minutes and Canary Wharf in 25 minutes. Heathrow Airport terminals two and three will be just 14 minutes away via the new line.
